Local favorite Daniel Dye set fast time in Super Late Model qualifying for Night Five of the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna Speedway.
The Florida young gun navigated the half-mile oval in 17.701 seconds, turning in the quickest lap of the time trial session. Another Florida racer, Stephen Nasse, was second-fastest at 17.767 seconds.
